Christmas is not yet here, but the Christmas ads certainly are.
That’s right, it’s that time of year when we’re faced with the usual array of sentimental messages designed to get us feeling festive [read: spending our cash].
Amazon’s Christmas ad is just one. Featuring singing delivery boxes, dancing grandparents, and a dog wearing a Christmas jumper, this is all feel-good stuff.
The ad also features a smiling female delivery driver walking up to people’s front doors to deliver their packages. However, the scene when she gets home to her family at the end of the day doesn’t sit well with everyone.
One writer in the Independent newspaper said: “If you’ve seen Ken Loach’s Sorry We Missed You focussing on the dark side of the delivery industry, you’ll know why I shuddered when I saw it.”
