The Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing MAN piloted by Shane Brereton made its Championship debut in Misano two weeks ago, the first time Shane had driven a ‘virtual race truck’.
Shane Brereton gave an exclusive interview to Fleet Speak ahead of this weekend’s event.
‘Misano was a great experience, the track is identical to the real circuit. I had never driven a virtual race truck and it took some time to set the truck up. We had limited testing time and during practice we lost an engine. The races were good fun, although the Apollo Tyres liveried truck was running at the back of the pack, we gained some understanding of what the game entails’, was Shane’s assessment of the debut.
‘The Slovakiaring is quite a demanding circuit, we have been testing and working on different settings since Misano and have recorded some improvement in lap times and hopefully come Sunday we will be battling in the middle of the pack’, stated the Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing team driver.
The next round of the 2020 ETRC Digital Racing Challenge heads to Slovakia this weekend with two-time FIA European Truck Racing Champion Norbert Kiss leading the standings with four race victories from the opening events in Hungary and Italy.
Kiss inherited the victory in the last race following Jamie Anderson’s indiscretion that landed him a 30 second time penalty to maintain his 100% record.
Sascha Lenz and Teo Calvet are the other title contenders as the virtual world of truck racing heads to the Slovakiaring on Sunday 21st June.
The races are shown live on Sunday 21st June, Qualifying is at 17.30 CET with the digital races set for 18.00 CET and 19:00 CET so set your clocks and join us at FLEET SPEAK to view the RACES CLICK HERE.
