Truckers have been warned that dirty trucks could cause safety risks.

According to Australia’s National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, dirt on truck parts could mean dangerous flaws are missed during visual safety inspections.

The regulator highlighted the importance of periodic cleaning so nothing is missed on visual inspections. Trucks and their parts should be clean, free of grime, dirt, mud and lubricants. The regulator is keen to make that point to truck operators and inspectors that failure to clean a vehicle can hide or mask problems which could lead to repairs and maintenance not being carried out

This warning has been issued in Australia, but it applies the world over.
If a truck is not clean before you start a safety inspection, postpone the checks and get scrubbing!
