John Pearce Glynneath takes two New Generation DAF XFs

Two New Generation DAF XF 480 FTGs have been delivered to the haulier, John Pearce Glynneath.

John Pearce Glynneath has become one of the first UK operators to take delivery of two New Generation DAF XF tractors.

The trucks have been supplied by DAF dealer, Watts Truck & Van of Swansea, and the XF 480 FTG 6×2 tractors supplement the firm’s majority DAF fleet on curtain-sider pallet work in the UK and abroad.

The New Generation XF was unveiled in June last year and crowned International Truck of the Year 2022 alongside its XG and XG+ stablemates.

The new XF represents a big step forward in design and efficiency, with DAF Trucks being the first manufacturer to take advantage of the new EU Masses and Dimensions regulations.

‘DAF is our preferred manufacturer’

The managing director of the South Wales-based haulier John Pearce Glynneath, Clive Davies, said: “DAF is our preferred manufacturer because they’re always fantastic for reliability and the service from the dealership is outstanding.”

He says that opting for the New Generation DAF XF was an easy decision and said: “We’ve been buying DAF since the 1970s and we have a long-standing relationship with the dealership.

“DAF is our preferred manufacturer because they’re always fantastic for reliability and the service from the dealership is outstanding.”

‘Taken delivery of the new XFs’

Mr Davies said: “We’ve not long taken delivery of the new XFs but on first impressions, we’re really pleased with them.

“The cab itself is a big improvement in terms of visibility with the lower dashboard, bigger windows, and camera systems helping the drivers out.”

He added: “Liveried up, they look fantastic. DAF has done a great job with the overall design.”

The DAF XF sports a completely redesigned cab and can deliver up to 10% improved fuel efficiency over the previous XF model.

New Generation DAF XF

Indeed, the New Generation DAF XF represents a totally new design.

It has best-in-class aerodynamics which has been complemented by a range of new, highly efficient powertrains.

Drivers also get to enjoy cab comfort and the good use of space provides huge driver appeal while operational benefits include improved fuel economy and payload.

The new trucks have service intervals of one year or 200,000 kilometres, and over-the-air software updates.

There are also enhanced safety systems for both the driver and for vulnerable road users too which means that the New Generation DAF XF sets the benchmark for heavy-duty trucks.

Highest energy efficiency

Along with the full new cab design, the truck also has the highest energy efficiency and lowest CO2 emissions.

The New Generation XF has a large windscreen and ultra-low belt line to deliver unmatched direct vision, contributing to industry-leading safety, especially for vulnerable road users.

The standing height in the new XF is excellent and is between 1,900 and 2,075 mm, depending on the position within the cab.
