For those of you who like a challenge, I have good news. After a few years’ absence, the Scania Driver Competition is back.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, this is one of the most challenging truck driving competitions around. Open to drivers of all ages, entrants have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and compete against other drivers.
The competition kicks off with theory tests, before drivers take to the roads for the practical part of the competition.
In previous years, a rule limited participants to 35 years or younger. Not anymore. This year, the age limit has been scrapped and drivers of all ages will be displaying their skills in defensive driving, fuel-efficient driving, pre-driving checks, cargo securing, and fire and rescue.
The aim is to attract drivers from more than 30 European countries, all competing for the top prize: a new Scania truck of the winner’s choice. The final will be held in in Södertälje in May next year.
The judges will be looking for accuracy and good judgement rather than speed. So, what are you waiting for?
