The Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing MAN had an eventful outing at the Slovakia Ring last weekend as Shane Brereton recorded points finishes in both rounds of the 2020 ETRC DIGITAL RACING CHALLENGE.
Brereton, still getting used to simulator racing, had explosive starts in both races but suffered a number of racing incidents to record tenth place finishes in both races.
The Apollo Tyres Tor Truck Racing team driver, speaking to FLEET SPEAK, reflected on his experience last weekend and looks ahead to the Nurburgring Round this Sunday 28th June.
‘I enjoyed the racing last weekend, in the first race I made a good start but was tagged from behind and that dropped me behind Adam Lacko, we had some close racing but another incident dropped us further behind late on. We made an impressive start to race two and challenged for the lead before suffering an accident which forced a re-start and we could not quite live up to expectations as we found ourselves near the back of the field after suffering another collision with a guest driver, but it was fun and enjoyable’.
‘The Nurburgring is a great circuit to drive, one that I enjoy, so the opportunity to race the Apollo Tyres truck on a track that I have more experience of should assist the continuing development of my knowledge of simulator racing. It is different to driving a real race truck but I am hopeful the improvements will come and we shall be battling amongst the more experienced drivers towards the front of the grid’.
The Apollo Tyres truck made its FIA ETRC Championship debut last year at the Nurburgring and will be hoping for better fortunes in the digital racing version this weekend as the Championship leader, Norbert Kiss, looks to preserve his 100% winning record on Sunday.
The races are shown live on Sunday 28th June, Qualifying is at 17.30 CET with the digital races set for 18.00 CET and 1900 CET so set your clocks and join us at FLEET SPEAK to view the RACES CLICK HERE.
