sennder, a Berlin-based logistics startup has just raised €62.4 million in a Series C financing round led by Lakestar, with existing investors like venture capital firms Accel, Holtzbrinck Ventures, Project A and Scania.
That takes sennder’s total funding this year to nearly €100 million.
Founded in 2015, sennder is a logistics platform and road freight marketplace that connects more than 7,500 shippers and delivery services across Europe.
Logistics and the movement of freight right is crucial for any business and the opportunities for digitisation of this space are rife. After all, we’re dealing with a €350 million industry that still relies heavily on paper documents, phone calls and faxes.
But change is coming. The so-called ‘Amazon effect’ is seeing startups and industry incumbents provide greater visibility and transparency within their business models.
sennder offers apps for drivers, fleet management tools for back offices, and management solutions for shippers. It uses AI to create insights on data captured from fleets to help automate route planning and coordinate end-to-end freight movement.
David Nothacker, sennder co-founder said: “We believe that sennder is leading the way for the industry on digitization, reliability and customer service.”
