A Scottish fashion student has become the youngest female truck driver in the UK.
Following in the footsteps of her father who owns trucking company Colin Lawson Transport, Jodie Lawson passed her Class 1 and Class 2 HGV training on her first attempt earlier this year.
Jodie is in her second year of college and said that learning to drive a lorry was a challenge, but she was determined to pass.
“The most challenging bit was learning to rethink how much space you take up on the road,” she said.
Jodie hopes to encourage more women to follow her lead and challenge the stereotype of truck drivers.
“My advice would be to just go for it. Don’t be scared because when you’re up there in that lorry it’s an amazing feeling – it’s ace.”
