Volvo Group and Samsung have joined forces to develop battery packs for Volvo’s electric trucks.
Volvo Group is looking for ways to strengthen its capabilities and assets in electromobility and hopes the partnership will help do that. The alliance will develop battery pack specifically for Volvo’s trucks.
Martin Lundstedt, president and CEO of Volvo Group, explained: “With electromobility, the increasing needs for transport will be done in a cleaner and quieter way, which opens up new possibilities for our customers and society as a whole.”
He continued by saying the alliance would help Volvo in its quest to offer “the world’s most truly sustainable transport system with fossil-free alternatives for our commercial vehicles.”
Earlier this year, Volvo’s first electric trucks were delivered to customers in Europe as part of a pre-series trial with selected customers. Production of the Volvo FL Electric and FE Electric trucks for the European market will start with a limited production run later this year.
