Zenith acquires 100 new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO Pace Smart Semi-Trailers

Zenith Trailer Rentals has acquired 100 new Schmitz Cargobull's S.KO Pace Smart semi-trailers.

Zenith Trailer Rentals has extended its fleet with 100 new Schmitz Cargobull’s S.KO Pace Smart semi-trailers.

The trailers will be supporting parcel customers across the UK.

The durability of the new semi-trailers was a major factor in Zenith’s choice, as well as the shorter lead times offered by Schmitz Cargobull’s UK team after production was ramped up at their facility in Manchester.

And Zenith’s confidence in the renowned trailer manufacturer was so high, they made their order without first needing to trial a demonstrator.

‘More than 7,000 trailers on our fleet’

The managing director at Zenith Trailer Rentals, Phil Rodman, said: “We have more than 7,000 trailers on our fleet, but this is the first time that we have worked with Schmitz Cargobull.

“Of course, we’ve always been aware of Schmitz Cargobull products.

“And a combination of their strong reputation for building quality assets, and a proposal that exactly matched our requirements in terms of availability and specification meant they were a natural partner for us when it came to expanding our fleet.”

The S.KO Pace Smart has been designed for durability and longevity and is the first new product to be built in the firm’s Manchester factory.

Semi-trailer weighs less than competitors

Featuring innovative lightweight panels, each semi-trailer weighs approximately 600kg less than competitor models.

This weight saving provides operators with a reduction in fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions.

The S.KO Pace Smart also doesn’t absorb moisture, allowing the tare weight to remain consistent over time and ensure the payload potential is maintained for the life of the asset – that is expected to be around 15 years for the new semi-trailers.

Fully modular, the S.KO Pace Smart is EN 12642 code XL certified and comes with Schmitz Cargobull’s telematics system fitted as standard.

New assets will be in operation seven days a week

The 100 new assets at Zenith will be in operation seven days a week, primarily with parcel companies.

Mr Rodman added: “Ordering a trailer that’s built in the UK certainly has its advantages, particularly at a time when parts are hard to come by.

“Aside from the quality and long-term benefits that the semi-trailers offer, we were also impressed that Schmitz Cargobull could meet our demanding lead times.”

Headquartered in Leeds, Zenith Trailer Rentals is part of the Zenith Group and have more than 150,000 assets under management including cars, vans, HGVs, trailers and MHE.

CK Foods acquires first S.KO Cool Smart Semi-trailer

Meanwhile, the manufacturer and supplier of pizza cheese and frozen chicken products, CK Foods, has taken delivery of its first Schmitz Cargobull asset.

It is the S.KO Cool Smart box body semi-trailer that will be used to transport chilled and frozen food across the UK.

The new reefer will operate in conjunction with two Volvo FH tractor units and joins a fleet of eight 26-tonne rigid trucks and three trailers.

It comes equipped with Schmitz Cargobull’s TrailerConnect telematics system which provides a comprehensive overview of the trailer and its load throughout every journey.
